Free computer classes scheduled

Catawba County Library System will offer a variety of learning opportunities to adults next month. The free 90-minute sessions are taught by trained library staff and pre-registration is required. Classes include:
Beginning Word-Get oriented to this popular Microsoft word processing program to compose letters, reports and other documents. Class begins at 10 a.m.. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. Stephens Branch Library.
Intro to Power Point-Learn how to use this integrated software program that will allow you to create slides, handouts, notes and outlines. Offered at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Southwest.
Intro to Publisher- Discover how your PC can integrate text and graphics to produce brochures, newsletters and other printed pieces including birthday cards and reunion flyers. Offered 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Newton.
Setting Up Email-See how easy it is to establish an electronic mail account on a computer. Offered at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Sherrills Ford and again at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at Maiden.
In addition, General Education Development (GED) classes are offered Thursday evenings at Southwest Branch on Highway127 South in Mountain View. The sessions, designed for adults who lack a high school diploma, are held 6-8 p.m. and are offered through Catawba Valley Community College. For details, contact the branch library at 294-2343.
